Homicide and Seek

Homicide and Seek is a comedic fiction podcast about Laura Smith — a full-time barista who believes she is a private investigator with a laminated homemade ID. On the island of Gorsemoor, she cannot resist inserting herself into every strange crime, disappearance, and disaster around Neptune Café — regardless of whether she is qualified, invited, or correct.
Each episode is a standalone, absurd mystery set in the eccentric world of Gorsemoor, where Laura’s interference turns every case into chaos and strange incidents are just part of everyday life.
Expect absurd cases, questionable logic, and an amateur detective who should not be trusted with investigations.
Episodes
1 The Disappearance of Regular Medium Customer
When Neptune Café’s regular customer — and medium — Pandora Lu Huxley goes missing, barista and aspiring private investigator Laura Smith decides to investigate. At Pandora’s house, she discovers a bizarre drawing that may depict teeth. Following a trail of strange clues with no clear method, she eventually finds Pandora — but what she uncovers is far more dangerous than expected.
2 The Heist at the Finger-Painting Gallery
At the grand opening of finger painter Jan Van Doodle’s latest exhibition, chaos erupts when the centerpiece painting vanishes. Ignoring Sgt. Henry’s orders to stay out of the case, Laura gathers the key witnesses at Neptune Café with the promise of free coffee and launches her own investigation. As she digs deeper, her unorthodox methods push the case in an unexpected direction.
3 Last Bite
The annual Teflon Individual competition returns with a series of bizarre challenges, including comforting a crying orphan while baking a berry pie and swimming around the island in a dinosaur costume. But the event takes a dark turn when one of the judges collapses and dies during the pie-tasting round. Hired to investigate, Laura takes on the case, very excited as it is her first time dealing with an actual death, and pulls reporter Richard Masheder into the unfolding chaos as she tries to make sense of who might have killed Henriette Pembroke.
4 The Ians Club
Every year, an exclusive club made entirely of people named Ian gathers for its annual meeting. This year, one of the Ians is murdered. Distrusting the police, the club hires Laura to investigate instead. But as more Ians begin turning up dead, Laura finds herself trapped in a bizarre world of club politics, identical suspects, and a single rule the Ians can’t seem to follow: no Ian is supposed to kill another Ian.
5 Wild Goose Chase
A series of robberies has rocked the island of Gorsemoor, all centred around the same block of shops. When two witnesses disagree over whether the thief wore a duck or goose mask, the town becomes divided. Hired by local florist Nel Winslow, Laura investigates the crimes and uncovers a long-buried feud between the rival Dunstan-Pennington and Thornycroft families—while the mask debate threatens to overshadow the real mystery.
6 The Melting Mysteries: Breaking Ice
Laura and Orla are enjoying a summer holiday on the beach when a body washes ashore. Despite Sergeant Waters’ reluctance, Laura can’t resist taking a closer look, determined to find out how it ended up in the sea. When a second body appears, she becomes convinced the deaths are connected and pushes further into the case than anyone expects.
7 The Spy Who Left Me High and Dry
Laura is invited by her Aunt Sonja, owner of Nautical Napkins, to help with a task involving an old submarine being converted into a restaurant. While Sonja reminisces about the napkin business, a body is discovered in the engine room, stabbed and surrounded by poisons and several passports. One of the names on the list, Olga Dmitrieva, is a former spy Sonja worked with during the island’s espionage-filled 70s.
As Laura investigates, she uncovers connections to the mysterious Chinese Jack, a spy whose identity was never revealed, and a past that refuses to stay buried.
8 Pineapple on Pizza
Laura is hired to investigate a strange case involving architect Andrew Farquharson, who has been receiving mysterious pineapple pizzas from an anonymous source for the past 15 years. The constant deliveries have left him unable to work and the police have little interest in the case. Laura interviews Andrew’s family and does her best to make sense of the bizarre situation, while Arron somehow seems to be also tangled up in the case.
9 The Detective of The Year
Laura attends the Detective of the Year convention, eager to hear from her favorite private detective, Silas Stirling, known for his astounding track record. While there, she runs into Ikea Johansson, someone she would rather avoid. After getting her memoir signed by Silas, Laura later discovers him dead in a lift—with Ikea Johansson also present—and is drawn into the investigation alongside her.
10 Final Touch
When a body is discovered in the woods, Laura runs into a friend of the victim who is looking to hire Ikea Johansson to investigate the case. Eager to prove herself and gain recognition, Laura pretends to be Ikea and takes on the investigation instead. But as the case unfolds, Laura begins to suspect the murder may be connected to deaths stretching back decades.
